Dental abscess cause, symptoms and home remedies

A dental abscess is a collection of pus associated with a tooth. There are many  type of dental abscess periapical abscess, periodontal abscess, Gingival abscess, Pericoronal abscess, Combined perodonitc. In a periapical abscess, the origin is a bacterial infection that has often dead, pulp of the tooth.

 It is caused by broken teeth, tooth decay.When it comes to mouth abscesses, both the gums and the teeth are at the risk.


Causes of dental abscess

When you don't cleaned your teeth freshly the it forms plaque on your teeth and gums.It develops the acid produced by plaque starts to decay the teeth or gums.
  • Not maintaining proper oral hygiene – plaque can build-up on the teeth.

  • Consumption of sticky and starchy foods that encourage growth of bacteria.

  • Spread of bacterial infection due to injury and other infection.

  • Weak immune system due to medications or recent illness.

  • Trauma

  • Rough tooth brushing

  • Food stuck between the teeth

  • A cracked tooth

Symptoms  of dental abscess

The most common signs and symptoms of dental abscess are :
  • Fever

  • When you touching or biting the affected area then pain may be increase 

  • Difficulties in eating or drinking.

  • Swelling in your face or check

  • Sensitivity

  • A tooth that is loose or discoloured

  • A bad smell out  the mouth form the infection

  • Headache

  • Difficult in opening your mouth
Home remedies
  1. Don't use the food and drink that is too hot or too cold.

  2. Replace your toothbrush every three or four months.

  3. Eat healthy food, limiting sugary items and between-meal snacks.

  4. Salt water rinse- Taking a 1/2 teaspoon of normal salt and 1/2 cup of warm tap water. both are mix it. Rinse your mouth with the salt water; try to swish it around inside your mouth for at least two minutes , then spit the water out.

  5. Baking soda- Mix 1/2 tbp of baking soda with 1/2 cup of water and a pinch of salt. Swish the mixture in your mouth for up to five minutes. Spit out water and repeat until you have finish the mixture.

  6. Cold compress- Place ice cubes in a  dry towel. Hold the compress against your skin near the affected area. The compress can be used for 10 minutes intervals repeated it 4-5 times per day.

  7. Clove oil- A few drops on a cotton ball or swab. You may wish to dilute the potent oil with a carrier oil . you can also make clove oil mouthwash by placing a few drops of the oil into a small glass of water.

  8. Garlic- Make a paste by crushing a fresh clove of garlic. Rub the paste on the infected area.this can be repeated 3-5 times per day.
